Even though these are both 650 single cylinder engine bikes, they ride completely different. The BMW feels more like a twin on the highway and the KLR feels like a heavy dirt bike (which it is). The BMW is a much more stable and enjoyable bike to ride on the highway than the KLR. It also vibrates a lot less than the KLR. I have seen this done many times. Some have even taken most or all of the foam and put a gel insert in instead. It's amazing how a small amount of seat height can make a difference. I use a sheepskin on my Funduro and GS and that raises me about an inch. I really notice that, both in footing and wind over the screen. Regards Nigel in NZ
