If you get a used X5, I highly recommend the 6 cylinder engine. This is an engine that BMW has been making a long time and uses in various cars. It is very reliable. On the other hand the V8 is much lower volume in production, and I have heard complaints about oil leakage and such.

We purchased a new 2019 X5 4.0 on Palm Springs November 2019. The sticker was $75k plus and is loaded. It is our 5th BMW. The car has been flawless in all regards. It is our 2nd X5, replaced our 2014 5.0. The power exceeds factory specs and delivers up to 23 mpg at 72 mph on cruise control. We will see the odometer turn only 10K very soon.
